Component project P1 - “Intelligent visible light communication systems with applications in roadside assistance and active safety

The necessary infrastructure for the realization of the complex project

The infrastructure needed to carry out the project has a complex structure involving advanced research and technological development equipment in multiple fields to cover the full spectrum of planned activities. Most of the equipment is available in the consortium's laboratories, and the proposed acquisitions aim to ensure the other needs.

The main infrastructure available to the complex project within the coordinating institution is the Integrated Research, Development and Innovation Center for Advanced Materials, Nanotechnologies and Distributed Manufacturing and Control Systems (http://erris.gov.ro/Centru-integrat-de-cercetare)

MANSiD - containing 11 laboratories for research, development, innovation and business incubation developed with over 150 research equipments purchased in 2015 through a POSCCE project of ~ 31 million lei, scientifically coordinated by the director of this proposal.

The P1 project will also use equipment necessary for the synthesis and characterization of luminescent materials for OLEDs available at ICMPP (https://erris.gov.ro/INSTITUTUL-DE-CHIMIE-MACROMO). The budget of project 1 provides an amount of 130,000 lei for the purchase of optoelectronic and computing components and devices necessary for the development of VLC systems.

The activities of Project 2 will be carried out mainly within the UOC's Virtual and Augmented Reality Research Laboratory (https://erris.gov.ro/cerva.ro) - and the USV Intelligent Machines and Information Visualization Research Laboratory, who have research equipment of a complementary nature necessary for the implementation of the activities: (UOC) - ARENA motion tracking system, virtual reality headphones (VRVision, 3Dvisor), stereoscopic display systems, Sensable PhantomOMNI haptic return devices; (USV) - gesture detection devices (Leap Motion, Myo, Ring Zero), smart watches, 13m2 video wall and 8K resolution (7680 × 4320 px), VICON motion tracking system.

Project 3: The activities will be carried out within the Research Center for Image Processing and Shape Recognition (https://erris.gov.ro/Image-Processing-and-Pattern) from UTCN, of the GRID Computing Laboratory (https: // erris.gov.ro/IFIN_GRID) of IFIN and within the Digital Holography Laboratory (https://erris.gov.ro/HOLOProImag---UPB) of UPB that have complementary research equipment necessary for the implementation of the activities: (UTCN ): 802.11p communication systems (Linkbird MX), high-precision GPS devices (Novatel) mobile search platform (vehicle equipped with video cameras, industrial computer, lidar sensors, and CAN bus junction); (IFIN): computing systems and equipment for communicating through visible light; (UPB): digital holography systems and RF, wireless communication equipment. The project budget provides an amount of 100000 lei to complete this infrastructure with new necessary equipment: components for V2X communication networks: 802.11p and LTE, computing equipment and peripherals for computing equipment, smart mobile devices, embedded equipment for the development of encapsulated systems communication).

The activities of the P4 Project will be carried out mainly in the Electromagnetic Compatibility, Microwave, Antenna and Propagation laboratories of the UPT Department of Measurements and Optical Electronics and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory (http://erris.gov.ro/compatibilitate- electromagnetic) at USV. Main equipment owned: (UPT): State-of-the-art spectral analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, interface equipment; (USV): EMC accredited and fully equipped laboratory for testing, as well as other ancillary equipment for EMC / EMI testing (including TDK / 30MHz - 18GHz semi-anechoic chamber (certified Seibersdorf / Austria)). The project budget provides an amount of 125.
