Project component 1: Intelligent visible light communication systems with roadside assistance and active safety applications
Stage I – 2018
Period: 16.05.2018 – 31.12.2018
Stage name: Design, analysis and optimization of the visible light communication system, in LED, OLED and mixed versions, compatible with road applications and context-adaptive functions.
During this stage, a detailed architecture of the VLC transmitter and receiver was developed, starting from the scheme presented in the funding application, analyzing the functions that can be adapted to the context and the characteristics of the components in order to maximize performance. In parallel with these activities, light emitting diodes with soft organic materials were designed for use in VLC systems. The results obtained are in line with and even exceed the expected results for this stage of the P1 project, a situation also reflected by the comparative analysis in the table below:

Stage II - 2019
Period: 01.01.2019 – 31.12.2019
Stage name: Implementation and testing of VLC system compatible with road applications and context-sensitive functions
Stage 2, related to 2019, of implementation of the P1 component project consisted in the implementation and testing of the VLC system compatible with road applications and adaptive functions to the context, as well as in the elaboration of a patent application on this topic, according to the implementation plan. of the project. The implemented architectures started from the scheme presented in the funding application and from the design documentation made in Phase I of the project, these being improved during their implementation, in accordance with their response within the individual evaluation stage. Therefore, this stage involved the hardware implementation of the component blocks of the VLC system, their individual testing, and the optimization of the performance of each block. So,
