Abstract

The goal of this project is to consolidate the institutional capacity of the Machine Learning and Information Visualization Research Laboratory (MintViz) toward increasing the expertise, visibility, and stimulating participation of its team members to the EU Framework Programme by means of continuous specialization in new interactive technologies in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

Objectives

  1. Consolidation of the capacity of the MintViz Research Laboratory to conduct scientific research in the area of new interactive technologies
  2. Increase the international visibility of the MintViz Laboratory in its scientific domain of excellence
  3. Stimulating submission of scientific research proposals together with international partners

Expected results

The expected results take the form of proposals for scientific projects and new scientific results toward consolidating the human resource of the laboratory, making optimum use of the research infrastructure, and increasing the international visibility of the research laboratory.

Other resources (software and datasets)

  1. Software application (node.js, HTML/JavaScript, and Java for Android) for the LifeTags++ system RAR | License . The archive also contains a sample extracted from our dataset of approximately 1,000 images captured using a pair of camera glasses (egocentric, eye-level perspective), clip-on video camera (egocentric, back view perspective), and an ambient IP video camera (providing an exocentric perspective). The full dataset is also available for research purposes, but because of privacy aspects regarding the captured snapshots, please contact Prof. Radu-Daniel Vatavu for signing a NDA and for more details about how to obtain the full dataset.
